The Perfect Remote Work Week Does Exist

You’ve worked from home for a long, long, too long, time  now. You created a home office and found all your local coffee shops with fast internet. Yoga pants are the new business casual. Your dog is your only on-site work colleague. A remote work routine is your norm, but a change of scenery will help boost your creativity and motivation. It’s time to take your 9 to 5 remote day on the road and head to The Inn at Riverwalk in Edwards, Colorado. And bring your four-legged fur-friend! While not a full vacation from work, the fresh mountain air, endless adventures at your doorstep, and comfortable spaces to work are exactly what you need to be productive.

Come for the work week, but don’t work too hard. What you do outside of the 9 to 5 work day will make your stay special. With so many options to choose from, we are here to help. Here is a list of can’t-miss things to do, fabulous meals, and tips for how to make the most of your time in the Vail Valley while you work remotely.

Coffee and Breakfast Options

While you can brew coffee in your own room while lounging in your p.j.s, you should try out the Lavazza Coffee machine in the lobby. This machine brews coffee with robust flavor, body, aroma, and acidity, cozy hot chocolate, and soothing tea. Grab a hot beverage from the lobby any time of day when you need a pick-me-up. You won’t regret it!

For a fast and easy breakfast, head to the lobby for a selection of fresh pastries and breakfast burritos, provided complimentary from 7am - 9am. This is a quick option for grab-and-go if you want to eat breakfast while you work in the mornings.

Hovey and Harrison is a happening breakfast spot across the street from The Inn. Their seasonally inspired menu provides fresh and sensational food. We recommend you try the potato hash which is loaded with veggies, salsa, eggs, and brisket. It’s a hearty meal to fuel your day.

Down the Riverwalk from The Inn, the Bookworm Cafe offers excellent smoothies, toasts, and crepes in a cozy atmosphere. Try their Eat, Sleep, Ride smoothie for a morning energy boost. If you are a book lover, browse their staff favorites and their excellent selection of books. Check out the sections with books by local authors and books about Colorado.

Your Morning

After you fuel up with breakfast or coffee, there is plenty of time to get your blood flowing before work. There are multiple activities you can do right from our doorstep before your work day begins. Our top recommendation is to checkout the Eagle Valley Trail. This is a beautiful trail right behind The Inn, and weaves along the Eagle River, and through some valley neighborhoods. You can enjoy the trail via foot or by checking out one of the Specialized hybrid bikes (and lots of other fun stuff) from our Gear Garage

If the gym is more of your thing, head to our on-premise Fitness Center. This state-of-the-art facility has everything you need to get your muscles moving. With a variety of cardio machines, free weights, yoga mats, and even a Plurima Multistation, you can easily get a full body workout. Though you may be indoors, the Fitness Center’s huge windows give you a breathtaking view of the mountains, river, and trees.

Work Day

With high-speed internet throughout the property, you can set up shop anywhere without maddening internet issues. Start the day with morning meetings from the spacious desk in your room, then move to a table in the lobby to finish the day. The bright sun streams through the lobby windows and makes it an energizing space to work (and help yourself to more Lavazza coffee!).

Feel free to make yourself comfortable. You can use our guest computer and printer in the lobby any time. If you have any other business needs or questions, our front desk staff are happy to help.

Lunch

Take a break from the grind and get some fresh air. Stretch your legs and walk to one of Edwards’ exceptional lunch spots.

Sit on the beautiful patio at Main Street Grill and enjoy your lunch. The Thai Chicken Salad is colorful and crisp. For a more filling lunch, their jambalaya or ribs are both out of this world.

If you are a sandwich lover, there are some excellent, fast, and casual delis close by. The Smiling Moose Deli is a local favorite. Try out their famous Mo! Sandwich. A savory sirloin sandwich with melted cheese, banana peppers, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, and vinaigrette. It’s as unique and tasty as it gets.

Boardroom Market & Deli is another cool option with amazing sandwiches and salads. Guests at The Inn enjoy 10% off their meal. If you are a meatball sub fan, their Pepi’s Face sandwich is tough to beat. Don’t forget to grab a couple of their yummy chocolate chip cookies for an afternoon snack.

Post-Work Fun

Wrap up the work day and get ready for exploring! The options are endless for evenings in Edwards. If it was a hectic day at work and you need to kick back, our riverside pool and hot tub is the perfect place to chill out and decompress. But, if you want some post-work excitement, there are plenty of activities to enjoy.

Biking

The Village to Village trail is a well-known and beautiful ride. This is a longer ride so bring water and a snack. From The Inn, you can drive your car (The Inn has free parking!) or take the city bus to Beaver Creek Village and begin your ride there. The car or bus will do most of the climbing for you so you can enjoy the trail as it cuts across ski runs and winds through the aspen trees. The trail ends near the Eagle Valley Trail and gets you back to The Inn quickly.

The Berry Creek Trail is another excellent option if you would like a shorter ride. This roughly four- mile loop uses a combination of dirt road, double track, and single track. It meanders through the sagebrush and gives you unobstructed views of the Vail Valley. The trail begins on the opposite side of the highway from The Inn at Riverwalk and can easily be accessed by bike.

A bike path ride is a great way to put in some serious miles and explore the whole valley. Check out one of our hybrid bikes from the Gear Garage and ride the Eagle Valley Trail. Hop on your bike right from The Inn and you can ride as far as you want. The trail will eventually span 60+ miles, but today you can ride a little over 20; plenty of miles for an evening ride!

Climbing

Whether you are a seasoned rock climber or want to try something new, Eagle Climbing + Fitness is a state-of-the-art climbing gym. You can rent everything you need to get onto the wall and they offer classes if you are new to the sport. Checkout their website for more information and to see if there are classes available during your visit. Bonus, The Inn guests get 15% off on activities at Eagle Climbing + Fitness!

Hiking

The hiking trail system in the Vail Valley is world-class. No matter your fitness level, there is a hike for you. Take a look at our blog post to find details about our favorite hikes in the area.

Shopping

For a laid back evening, explore the local shops at the Riverwalk or catch a movie at the Riverwalk Theater

Need a gift for a loved one or want something for yourself? Visit Vintage Magnolia, a beautiful flower shop with a curated selection of home goods, self care products, and jewelry. Once you step foot into the store, you will never want to leave.

Valleygirl & Ruby Jane Boutique is a great local Colorado store with women’s clothing, accessories, and gifts. They have a seasonal selection of clothes for every occasion.

Ptarmigan Sports, located right near The Inn, is a local  family-owned sports store and boutique. They carry every kind of outdoor equipment you can imagine and are extremely knowledgeable if you need help to find the perfect piece of outdoor recreation gear.

Dinner

Our new resident restaurant, Mountain Fish House & Oyster Bar, should not be missed. Whether you want a fun post-work happy hour or dinner after your evening activity, their menu has something for you. We love the Lobster Roll Sliders. They are prepared in three different ways and all are all kinds of delicious.

Zino Ristorante, serving wonderful Italian food, is the perfect place to relax with a drink and a delectable meal after a long day. When you walk in the door you are met with a lively atmosphere and welcoming staff. The menu at Zino changes with the seasons and for every season there are innovative and fresh dishes to choose from. Their housemade burrata is a mainstay on the menu for a reason. The combination of soft cheese, fruit, and crispy prosciutto make this the perfect antipasti.

Another staple for dinner is the Gashouse. Housed in a historic log cabin, this restaurant has been in business for over 35 years. They serve up quintessential Colorado mountain foods . . . from elk, to bison, and to fresh trout. The menu is enticing and words simply don’t do the decor justice; you have to see it for yourself.

After dinner, hangout by our fire pit with a cocktail or relax in your room and watch complimentary cable TV. Spend the rest of your evening decompressing and dreaming about the adventures tomorrow will bring.
